Overview

We are currently looking to recruit a Toolroom Engineer for a client based in Norwich that manufactures injection moulded parts. The ideal candidate must have excellent bench working abilities (manual turning, milling and grinding) as well as a demonstrable history in the maintenance and repair of Injection Mould Tooling

Duties and responsibilities as a Toolroom Engineer:

  • Milling, Turning, Grinding
  • Polishing parts to restore finish due to damage and wear
  • Working to fine tolerances, using CNC mill and manual mills to machine components and cylindrical grinders to prepare finishes on components
  • Undertake TIG welding and fabrication activities
  • Using CMM measuring equipment, micrometers, calipers, slips and gauges
  • Ensuring all hot runner systems, voltages, valve gates and loop systems are functioning correctly
  • Check resistances on heaters, manifolds and thermocouples
  • Ensuring hydraulic and pneumatic systems on tools are functioning correctly
  • Ensure cooling systems are flowing, with no leaks replacing seals as necessary 
  • Checking rotating core systems to make sure that guide bushes and bearings are still in specification
  • Carry out visual inspections, replace parts where necessary, carry out checks, cleaning and lubrication and servicing as required to ensure machines are in good working condition.
  • Diagnosing faults using measuring equipment
  • Complete mould tool evaluations to help forecast maintenance costs

Experience/Qualifications required:

  • C&G level 3 or equivalent in Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering or similar ideally to include turning, milling or grinding
  • A minimum of 2 years hands on toolroom experience working with turning, milling or grinding tools ideally within an injection moulding environment
  • Mechanical competency to repair and fit components
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Problem Solving and Fault Finding
  • Understanding of machine operations and understand hydraulic principles
