  • Salary circa £28,000 - £30,000
 
 
We are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Fitter working within the machine manufacturing industry.
 
 
This role will require a candidate to have a great hands-on approach and require previous work/knowledge of mechanical stripping, rebuilding, repairing.
 
 
Duties and responsibilities as a Mechanical Fitter:
  • Assembly of machines, conveyors and drum coolers plus some ancillary equipment
  • Refurbishment of gearboxes, extruder barrels and screw shafts
  • Some pre-delivery testing/commissioning of machinery will be required
  • Understanding of 5S principles
  • Working with close tolerance components is essential
  • Installation of bearings and seals
  • Fitting of gears and bearing/ refurbishing of gearboxes
  • Hydraulic pipework, water hoses and some pipefitting plus some pneumatic pipework
  • Fitting of guards, brackets etc. often in stainless steel
  • Capable of working independently or in a team and able to coordinate with other to meet delivery targets and deadlines
  • Willingness to travel to global destinations if required for machine commissioning and start-ups
  • To attend appropriate training, as and when requested
  • To adhere to and maintain the company quality policy to ISO9001:2015 and to comply with all documentation and systems
  • To adhere to and maintain the company health and safety policy and to comply with the health and safety at work act 1974 and all current health and safety legislation
 
 
Experience / Qualifications required:
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks or other equivalent software
  • Technical knowledge of the make-to-order design process
  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant legal regulations
  • The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines
  • Creative and innovative with a desire to improve continuously
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and dependable
  • Good team-leading and team building
