We are currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Fitter for an engineering company, that’s expanding their team.
The main purpose of the role is to be the main lead in delivering a maintenance function in support of the manufacturing and assembly operations. Proactive & reactive maintenance of all plant & equipment, facilities & site, ensuring all health & safety requirements are met.
Duties & responsibilities as a Maintenance Fitter:
  • Assist with the planning of preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Managing customer expectations through work/activity planning
  • Daily task management of general maintenance through the completion of the maintenance management system
  • Help develop and maintain a plan of ‘Planned maintenance’ for all key assets and perform planned maintenance activities to schedule
  • Adherence to a planned maintenance schedule
  • Operational availability of Machines & equipment
  • Attend to and carry out repairs to machines & equipment in a reactive breakdown situation
  • Identify and implement improvements to plant, equipment and facilities, in support of site improvements planning and cost reduction targets
  • Plan and record preventative activities using the maintenance management system
  • Work with Health & Safety department to ensure all equipment conforms to HSE guidance and does not cause hazards to the workforce
  • Attendance of EHS meetings
  • Manage & control sub-contractors in supporting the maintenance function
  • Supplier management
  • Control of all tools, equipment and spares in support of the maintenance function
  • 5’S’ Housekeeping standards
  • Maintenance of security systems
Experience / Qualifications required:
  • Demonstratable knowledge of machine maintenance ideally within an engineering environment
  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced engineering / manufacturing organisation
  • Mechanical or Electrical Apprenticeship (or equivalent) background
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills
  • Results driven
  • Pro-active, energetic, resilient and flexible
This position is easily commutable from Preston, Blackburn, Darwen and Burnley
