Controls Engineer
 
 
We are looking to recruit an experienced Controls Engineer for a client of ours based in Stoke on Trent.  You will be working for a UK based operation that design and manufacture machinery supplying to a range of industries.
 
 
You will be responsible for the detail, design, and programming of control systems for machinery.  You will be working closely with their customers along with commercial, engineering and design teams at their offices based in Stoke on Trent.
 
 
My client mainly uses Siemens PLC control systems, you will be working with networked control systems with remote IO and internet communication modules. This enables worldwide connection to installed machinery, in preparation for the 4th generation of industrial equipment.
 
 
This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary dependant on experience.
 
 
Duties and responsibilities as a Controls Engineer include:
  • Programming PLC/HMI/VSD Controls (Siemens S7 1200, TIA Portal, Comfort and G120)
  • Control Networks: ProfiNET, RS-485, RS-232, IO-Link
  • Write PLC and HMI code object-oriented, documented, and easy to maintain.
  • Familiar with the IEC 61131-3 (LD, FB, ST and SFC)
  • Software validation & simulation.
  • Creation of Software Design Specifications (SDS)
  • Creation of Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
  • Setup and commissioning of drives and associated systems & software interfaces
  • Write PLC and HMI code from scratch for manual & automatic machines.
  • Circuit design & specifications & the creation of BOM’s
  • Produce factory acceptance tests (FAT) and accompanying testing documentation.
  • Approval of wiring diagrams and control panels
  • Understanding of electrical installations and wiring regulations
  • Project administration planning skills
 
 
 Experience and Qualifications required:
  • Engineering Qualifications (Degree, ONC, HNC, BTEC, NVQ or C&G)
  • Experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC Controls
  • Knowledge of OPC, ASI-bus and Distributed I/O systems.
  • Awareness and understanding of LabVIEW
  • Understanding of SCADA systems
 
 
Working as a Controls Engineer may require you to travel to customer sites occasionally to support with programming and technical issues.
